The last couple of days
I last wrote on Saturday morning, but on Saturday afternoon we went to Danny and Gillianne's house. We had a meeting and it was also Danny's birthday. Chloe and Kaelan were as usual ecstatic to see each other, and Zach as usual fought to play with them but had to settle for Natasha and Gabrielle instead. Chloe and Zachary are best friends when no one else is around, but much to Zaco's chagrin, as soon as someone else is available to play with, Coco drops him.
It was an encouraging meeting, as Danny and Gillianne had just returned from a visit to another church in Portland, Oregon, and had some proposals for changes to make. One of them is to start an english service at the same time and place as the french church service each Sunday. We would sing and pray all together, but break into the two language groups for the message and communion. Hopefully this will start from the first week of April! The decision to follow the example of this particular church is a little controversial, but for myself I have only positive things to say about it at this stage.
When I went downstairs to collect Chloe to go home, I found Chloe and Kaelan in the master bathroom. They had loaded Kaelan's little plastic chairs into the bath and were washing them. Needless to say they were both soaking wet (as was the bathroom floor). There is just no way to act sternly when you want to double over laughing!
At church on Sunday morning, everyone else also seemed encouraged by Danny and Gillianne's news. It was great too to have Anthony and Melanie visiting from Quebec, but Chloe missed Simon and Alison who were in fact staying at Anthony and Melanie's house in Quebec for the weekend. Once we got home, Mike and I got some good time together during the kids' extra-long nap, which was badly needed. In the evening, Shilin and Amilcar called to see if they could come over to watch a movie with us. We did a quick 15 minute "crisis cleaning" (http://flylady.net/pages/FlyingLessons_crisiscleaning.asp) and were ready with a relatively tidy home to welcome them when they arrived. These 15 minute intensive cleaning sessions are really working for us. We set the timer and all work together - even Coco and Zaco help out!
Today I made an Easter egg puzzle out of coloured construction paper for Chloe - she may be almost 3 but she has a lot of trouble with her colours and I thought this might help. We've also spent some time dancing and singing with the CD of music from the "Carrefour des petits soleils" (their playgroup). Now they're napping and I can blog and now have a little time to read my bible and pray. Bye for now - the big guy upstairs calls!
