Happy Birthday Chloe!

First thing this morning, I took this pic of my now-6-year-old girl. I've been seeing a lot more of her than usual, thanks to March break, sick days and numerous snow days off of school. The sickness has been frustrating, but it has been nice to spend time with my girl... she becomes more grown up every day. (Only when she's sleeping can I see the baby she once was.)

To illustrate... Just a few weeks ago we were having such a hard time rubbing along together... her lack of respect was driving me crazy and I didn't know what to do about it. It took me a while to realize that whenever I encounter an issue like this, the Bible is ALWAYS the answer. When I finally clicked, I asked Mike to read about the 10 commandments in his nightly bible story, and to focus on the concept of honouring your father and mother. The next day, all the same tough situations reoccurred, but Chloe's attitude was completely different. Late that afternoon, as I walked into her room, I got a warm welcome and an "I love you Mommy". Stunned, I sat down to ask her what had changed! "Was it the conversation you had with Daddy last night?" Chloe looked me straight in the eyes: "It was God!" she said. "God changed my heart, and my heart changed me!"

I can't tell you if this is normal for a 6 year old, but I'll certainly take it, especially since it has lasted so well! I am so proud of you, Chloe, and I love you SO much.
